Refunds

Short version: fourteen days, no questions asked. Write in and we will refund it.

The fourteen days

You can have your money back on any game bought here within 14 days of buying it. You do not have to give a reason, and it does not matter that you have downloaded it or played it — we know you have, that is what buying a game is for.

Ask by writing to support@doomsdayone.com from the address on your account, or from the address on your Paddle receipt, saying which game it was. We aim to answer within two working days.

After the fourteen days

Write in anyway and say what happened. If the game will not run on the machine it says it runs on, if you were charged twice, if you were charged for something you did not buy, or if something else has clearly gone wrong, we will sort it out — there is no cut-off for that.

Outside those cases, and past the fourteen days, a refund is at our discretion. We would rather fix the problem than keep the money.

How the money comes back

Paddle takes the payment and is the merchant of record for the sale, so Paddle issues the refund too, back to the card or account you paid with. That usually lands within 3–5 working days, though your bank sets the pace. Tax comes back with it.

You can also raise a refund directly with Paddle from the receipt they emailed you.

What a refund does

The game leaves your library and its download is revoked. If you kept a copy on a card, the licence to run it has gone with the refund, and you should delete it.

Scores you posted while you owned it stay on the boards. A board is a record of what happened.

Your statutory rights

If you are in the UK or the EU, you have a legal right to cancel a purchase of digital content within 14 days. That right can be waived when a download starts immediately — we do not ask you to waive it, and the policy above gives you the full fourteen days regardless. Nothing on this page takes away rights you have under consumer law.

If the service closes

Retro Play is not guaranteed forever, and the terms explain what happens if it closes: 30 days' notice, everything you own stays downloadable through it, and your games keep working offline afterwards because they run on your own machine. If you bought a game within 30 days of that announcement, we will refund it.
